So I realize it was a little late notice for people to come up with new projects to guest blog this weekend, so the wonderful Stephanie from My Frugal Lifestyle agreed to let me borrow this wonderful post as a guest blog of sorts. I loved this idea and couldn't resist sharing it with all of you. So without further ado, Stephanie:
Proof That The Easter Bunny Really Does Exist
When I was a little girl, my mom did the coolest thing for Easter one year. I still remember that Easter morning, like it was just yesterday. My mom wanted to prove to me and my younger siblings that the Easter Bunny really does come to our house. So, she filled a cookie sheet with flour and the night before Easter, she placed the pan of flour by the door. My mom explained that the Easter Bunny would step in the flour while coming into our home and that we would have proof that the Easter Bunny really does exist.
So, I'm doing it this year for my kids. Ty {my oldest boy, who's 4} is now old enough that he can understand what's going on. He's going to get a totally kick out of this! While my kids were both taking naps the other day, I decided to test my floured Easter Bunny foot prints and take pictures to show you how cool this idea really is.
Here's What You Need:
1 Cookie Sheet or Jelly Roll Pan
Flour
Scissors
1 Sponge {My mom actually cut up a potato to resemble the foot of a rabbit, but I just used an old sponge and it worked perfect}
•Pour as much flour as you want into your cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. Place it at any door in your house. Preferably a door that is an exit to the outdoors. You could also set it in front of a window. Either one will work great.
•Take a sponge {old or new} and cut out a large long oval. This is to resemble a rabbits foot. My mom actually made hers out a potato, but I thought a sponge was much faster and easier, but either one works great. Now, pat your sponge {or potato} into the floured pan and start making foot prints.
•Your bunny foot prints should lead from the pan of flour to the Easter Baskets and then make sure the foot prints lead out of your house as well. Your kids might be a little suspicious if the bunny tracks stop right at the Easter baskets and then {what?} he just vanished. Hmmm......? Make it look legit! Kids are smart!
My mom even went a step further and made bunny tracks all the way to our rooms and made it look like he jumped onto our beds and kissed our noses. I woke up with flour on my nose and on my bed. How cute was that, huh?! By using flour, it's really easy to vacuum up or shake out of something. So, clean up is a breeze. I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend and Holiday. I want to thank my mom for the great memories and the most amazing imagination!
How fun would that be for your kids?! I wish my little guy was old enough to appriciate this. Anyways stop by Stephanie's blog, it's full of fun, money saving ideas. She even has a recipe to make your own spray and wash!
